Walt Disney "DUCKSTER" Award known as the Academy Award of Disney.
Extremely rare inscribed bronze-metal figure of a very proud Donald Duck tugging at his bow tie on an Academy standard bakelite base with metal plaque. This one was presented to Martha Torge, in 1952 and is so dated, it is also the earliest Duckster known and has Disney's inscribed signature. Underneath is the label of the foundry that cast them. It is believed that only 10 or so Ducksters were given out by Walt in the 1950's and none are known after 1959. There is a population of later recasts, on plain wood bases, and bearing the Disney copyright on the right foot that were made for the studio's 50th anniversary in 1973 Note the rare still of a smoking Walt Disney presenting a DUCKSTER but keeping the earned Oscar for the Studio. In many introductions to the TV program in Walt's Studio set office, there are often a Duckster and a Mousecar on his desk. |
